By downloading, installing, or using ByteGuard ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
Important Notice
Please read these Terms carefully before using ByteGuard. They contain important information about your rights and responsibilities.
License Grant
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal use, not for resale or redistribution, subject to these Terms.
You may:
Download and install the App on devices you own or control
Use the App to store and manage your passwords and secure notes
Create backups of your encrypted data
You may not:
Copy, modify, or distribute the App
Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
Use the App for any illegal purpose
Attempt to circumvent security measures
Subscription and Purchases
ByteGuard offers both free and premium features:
Free Tier - Basic password management with limited vault count
Premium Subscription - Unlimited vaults, cloud sync, and advanced features
Lifetime Purchase - One-time payment for permanent premium access
All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. By making a purchase, you also agree to Apple's terms and conditions.
Subscription terms:
Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings
Refunds are subject to Apple's refund policy
User Responsibilities
Dual-Key Protection Mechanism
ByteGuard uses a dual-key architecture (Master Password + Secret Key) to protect your data:
Master Password: A password you create yourself, used to unlock the app daily. Please create a strong, unique password and keep it safe.
Secret Key: 12 English words automatically generated when you create your account. It provides an additional layer of security - even if your Master Password is compromised, your data cannot be decrypted without the Secret Key.
Important Warning
Due to our zero-knowledge architecture, if you lose either your Master Password or Secret Key, we cannot recover your data. Please make sure to back up your Secret Key in a safe place (such as a paper record).
As a user, you are responsible for:
Master Password Security - Creating a strong, unique master password and keeping it confidential. Do not share it or record it in insecure places.
Secret Key Backup - Safeguard your Secret Key. We recommend backing it up via paper record or iCloud Keychain sync.
Device Security - Maintaining the security of devices where the App is installed.
Accurate Information - Ensuring any information you provide is accurate.
Compliance - Using the App in compliance with all applicable laws.
Data Ownership
You retain complete ownership of all data you store in ByteGuard:
Your passwords, notes, and other content remain yours
We do not claim any rights to your content
You can export or delete your data at any time
Your data is encrypted with keys only you control
Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Warranties of merchantability
Fitness for a particular purpose
Non-infringement
Accuracy or reliability of any content
While we strive to provide a secure and reliable service, we do not guarantee that:
The App will be uninterrupted or error-free
Defects will be corrected
The App is free from viruses or harmful components
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL BYTEGUARD BE LIABLE FOR:
Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
Loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
Any third-party conduct or content
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in the App, including but not limited to:
Source code and software
Design elements and user interface
Trademarks and logos
Documentation and content
remain the exclusive property of ByteGuard and its licensors.
Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms.
Upon termination:
Your right to use the App will immediately cease
You should export any data you wish to keep before deleting the App
We have no obligation to maintain or forward any of your data
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which ByteGuard operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
